Pascal SCHUMACHER was born in Luxembourg, 1979.

  • He studied percussion at the conservatories of Luxembourg (Paul Mootz) and Strasbourg (Emmanuel Séjourné) and jazz vibes at the Brussels Conservatory with Guy Cabay.
    Actually he studies jazz vibes at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of The Hague with Frits Landesbergen.
    In 2002 he did his master in musicology at the Strasbourg University.

  • In private lessons and masterclasses he worked with David Friedman, Mike Manieri, Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Franck Tortiller, Bart Quartier, Charles Loos, Jean Geoffroy and Scott Prebys.


  • In 1998 he received the "IKB Jugendförderpreis".

  • In 1999 he won the "Prix Norbert Stelmes des Jeunesses Musicales du Luxembourg".

  • His young career covers a wide scope of musical fields : classical (Perduo!), experimental (StrokeX), contemporary (Interchange, Luxembourg Sinfonietta) and jazz music. In the jazz world he had the opportunity to play with Bruno Castellucci, Bas Cooymans, Jan De Haas, Marc Demuth, Roby Glod, Jim Grandcamp, Ernie Hammes, Jitz Jeitz, Jambangle, Salvatore La Rocca, Davide Petroca, Edouard Romano, Maxime Saury, Max Silvapulle, Oliver Strauch, Erwin Vann…


  • Very active in recording studios, he works reguarly with Frédéric Schlick with whom he recorded several CDs.

  • Concerts in Belgium (Nam In Jazz, Mons en Jazz, Brussels Jazz Marathon, Gaume Jazz Festival), in Canada, in France (Jazz d'Or - Strasbourg, Molsheim Jazz Festival, Colmar Jazz Festival), in Germany, in Holland (Carnaval du Jazz), in Italie, in Luxembourg (several festivals), in Portugal, in Spain, in Switzerland, in Sweden (Who's Next? Festival, Malmö), Australia etc...


  • Pascal teaches percussion at the Conservatory of Luxembourg.


  • Since 2001 he is co-leader of the Greg Lamy - Pascal Schumacher 4et.

  • In 2003 he forms his own quartet: Pascal Schumacher Quartet with Jef Neve on piano, Christophe Devisscher on bass and Teun Verbruggen on drums.

    This quartet released in March 2004 its debut album for IGLOO Records, titled "Change of the Moon (Igloo Igl 173)

    The quartet won the First Prize and the Public Prize at the "XIIIe Tremplin Jazz d'Avignon" in 2004 and toured in 2005 with Australian singer Kristen CORNWELL
