Piet VERBIST

acoustic bass



Piet VERBIEST was born in Wilrijk on June 3 1961.
He studied 4 years solfeggio and double bass at the academy of Ekeren and Turnhout.
He attended jazz workshops with John CLAYTON, Hein VAN DE GEYN and Riccardo DEL FRA and studied during 2 years at the Antwerp Jazz-Studio with a.o. Dave PIKE, Dennis LUXION and Hein VAN DE GEYN as teachers.

In 1994 he won first prize "uitvoerend jazzmusicus"(performing jazz musician) at the Brussels conservatory.

In 1995 he attended a workshop by Dave HOLLAND.

Piet is a sought after sideman and played with a number of musicians like :
Eric LEGNINI, Jacques PELZER, Phil ABRAHAM, Nathalie LORIERS, Erwin VANN, Richard ROUSSELET, Kris DEFOORT, Jack VAN POLL, OCTURN...

Piet VERBIEST is currently active with : Pirly ZURSTRASSEN "H" Septet, François DESCAMPS Quartet and Octet, Stefaan DEBEVERE Quartet, Ben SLUIJS Quartet , François DESCAMPS Octet, ANCESTHREE, the Cezariusz GADZINA Trio etc...
