Karel Van Marcke (born 7th November 1967, Ostend, Belgium)
Karel studied classical percussion and obtained the first Masters degree in Flanders majoring in Composition, and Jazz and Pop Music Arranging from the Royal Conservatory in Brussels.


After many years of working as an assistant to other artists he has decided to work as composer and arranger on his own account. Since that decision Karel has written several classical pieces for piano, a brass quintet (for soloists of the Belgian National Orchestra) as well as a string quartet for soloists from the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, and also performed by the Rubio String Quartet ).

His composition Changes won the BAP-Sabam price (09/2000) on the European Jazz Contest in Hoeilaart.


During the summer of 2002 his brass quintet 'Triptic' will be performed by an Belgian ensemble touring through Korea.
He has written the music for two promotional videos for the creation of Britain's first Shinkansen railway line from London to the Channel Tunnel and will start work on further music for live performance in London during the opening celebrations in Autumn 2003.


As a jazz composer he released already 2 recordings and will be touring through Belgium with his 13 piece band 'JAMBANGLE'. The band and recording comprises topBelgian jazz musicians Frank Vaganée, Fabrice Alleman, Marc Godfroid, Bart Quartier, Laurent Blondiau and Michel Bisceglia (producer).
