D'origine monstoise ,Jean-Paul Estiévenart est né le 14 mars 1985 .Son grand-père, trompettiste classique, remarque qu'il se passionne très vite pour la trompette et lui apprend les premiers pas. Il commence à étudier cet instrument à 6 ans à l'académie de St Ghislain jusqu'à l'âge de 16 ans. C'est à ce moment qu'il découvre le jazz et décide de s'y consacrer pleinement.

Il suit des cours avec François Descamps et Frédéric Delplancq, avec Raphaël Debacker et Fabrice Alleman. Lors de son premier festival Frameries Jazz, il rencontre le grand trompettiste Richard Rousselet, auprès duquel il prend des cours en stage ou en privé.

Depuis ses débuts, il est un habitué des jam sessions, notamment au K.Fée, au Sounds, au Music Village, où il a l'occasion de jouer avec des jazzmen belges et étrangers.

Jean-Paul Estiévenart collabore dans plusieurs et distincts projets musicaux:
Ainsi, en 2002, il entre dans le big band de Fred Delplancq (Bosquétia big band, aujourd'hui Jazzy Jazz Band). Il y continue encore, maintenant sous la direction du pianiste Yves Gourmeur. Jean-Paul fait partie également du big-band du Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, comme freelance.

Concernant les festivals, il prend part dans les suivants:

  • Frameries Jazz en 2002, 2003, 2004,
  • Mons en Jazz 2003
  • Bruxelles Jazz Marathon 2004.
  • et, en Espagne, au Festival Jazz Terrassa 2005.
Il participe au quartet du guitarriste Fabrizio Graceffa, au trio de Michael Blass, à No Vibrato d'Etienne Richard et au quartet de Richard Rousselet.
En collaboration avec Fabrizio Graceffa, il crée un quartet qui comprend aussi Herman Pardon (batterie) et Piet Verbiest (contrebasse). Ils interprètent de standards et des compositions.

A présent, Jean-Paul Estiévenart réalise en quintet son projet Hommage à Woody Shaw. Les musiciens qui l'accompagnent sont: Frédéric Delplancq au saxophone, Sabin Todorov au piano, Chris Mentens à la contrebasse et Kris Duerinckx à la batterie.

Jean-Paul Estiévenart is born in the Mons area (Belgium) on 14th March 1985. His grandfather observe that he loves the trumpet, so he learns to him the first steps. At the age of 6, he begins to study this instrument at the St. Ghislain academy. Ten years after, he discovers jazz and he decides to devote himself to it.

He receives lessons from François Descamps and Frédéric DelplancqFabrice Alleman. During his first Frameries Jazz Festival, he meets the great trumpet player Richard Rousselet, who gives him lessons, too.

From the begining, he is an assiduous of the jam sessions; for instance at the K.Fée, the Sounds or the Music Village, where he plays with many Belgian and foreign jazzmen.

Jean-Paul Estiévenart collaborates in several and different musical projects:
In 2002, he starts playing with the Frédéric Delplancq's big band (Bosquétia big band, today Jazzy Jazz Band). He continues still, now under the directorship of the pianist Yves Gourmeur. Jean-Paul takes part also in the Brussels Royal Conservatory as a freelance.

Concerning the jazz festivals, he appears in the following ones: :

He participates in the Fabrizio Graceffa's quartet, the Michael Blass's trio, the Etienne Richard's No Vibrato and the Rousselet's quartet.

With the contribution of the guitarist Fabrizio Graceffa, he sets up a quartet, which includes Herman Pardon (drums) and Piet Verbiest (double bass). They perform standards and compositions.

Nowadays, Jean-Paul Estiévenart carries out in a quintet his Tribute to Woody Shaw. The jazzmen who take on in this tribute are: Frédéric Delplancq (saxophone), Sabin Todorov (piano), Chris Mentens (double bass) et Kris Duerinckx (drums).
