At a young age, he studies classical piano, organ and harpsichord. He then turns towards jazz first as a self-taught musician and studies a.o. with pianists Diederik WISSELS, John TAYLOR and Nathalie LORIERS.
He completes his studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels with "la plus grande distinction" (cum laude).

He attended workshops with Enrico PIERANUNZI, Mark LEVINE and Daniel GOYONE (composition).

He played with the big band of the Musik Hochschule Köln (Cologne, Germany).
He regularly plays with singer Barbara WIERNIK, a.o. in duo (CD Eclipse). He played solos concerts, toured with guitarist Daniel VISANI and played with violin player Jean-Pierre CATOUL.
Jozef DUMOULIN is a member of the sextet of guitar player Marco LOCURCIO, with Gino LATTUCA (tp), Martin GJAKONOVSKI (bass), Chander SARDJOE (drums), Jeroen VAN HERZEELE (sax).
A live recording "Giulia is asleep is available on the Belgian LYRAE label.

He also played with the Fabien DEGRYSE Quartet.

He had the opportunity to play with a big band led by Bill DOBBINS, with a.o. Michael BRECKER and Dave LIEBMAN.

October 2001 saw the release of the CD Eclipse (Mogno J004) of Barbara WIERNIK and pianist Jozef DUMOULIN.

Recently, Jozef DUMOULIN performed a.o. with Daniel ROMEO, Michel HATZIGEORGIOU, OCTURN, Steve HOUBEN, the band MATTIS, Erwin VANNetc...

Né en 1975 dans une famille de douze enfants, originaire de la Flandre profonde.
Jozef a toujours été un passionné de musique, il jouait seul et à l'église du village pour accompagner les messes. A l'académie il suivait des cours de piano, orgue, clavecin et trompette.

1994: Il commence à étudier le jazz seul avec quelques manuels d'harmonie avant d'entrer au Conservatoire de Bruxelles où il aura Diederiek Wissels et Nathalie Loriers comme professeurs. il finira ces études avec une grande distinction.

1996: Il commence à jouer avec Barbara Wiernik, une colaboration qui dura jusque 2002

1997: Il obtient une bourse pour aller étudier à Cologne avec John Taylor à la Hochschule für Musik.
Pendant son séjour làbas, il a eu l'occasion de jouer avec un orchestre dirigé par Bill Dobbins, avec Michael Brecker et Dave Liebman comme solistes.

De retour en 1999 en Belgique, Lauréat 2000 du prix de la fondation artistique Mathilde E.Horlait-Dapsens.

Jozef a joué avec: Erwin Vann quartet, Rêve d'éléphant Orchestra, Bo Van der Werf quartet, Aka Moon, Toots Thielemans, Octurn, Marco Locurico band, Fabien Dergyse, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Toma & Co, Mäâk's Spirit, Michel Hatzigeorgiou's Out of Memory, Vegetal Beauty, Melangtronic, Dre Pallemaerts (dp4fm), Steve Houben, Bhedam (groupe indo-hollandais avec lequel il tournait trois fois en Inde), Zapp! strijkkwartet ( venant des pays-bas, un quatuor à cordes avec un répertoire éclectique qui va du classique au rock), Venus, Mattis, Traveling Light Piano Trio (trio hollandais de trois pianos), Catoul-Micault groupe, ...

Jozef est professeur au Conservatoire d'Anvers.
