Bart DEFOORT

Tenor/soprano saxophone, composer


Born in Bruges ,Belgium in 1964 in a musical family.( His father a classical musician,his brother Kris Jazz composer and pianist.). Studied at Brussels Conservatories with Steve Houben, and attended masterclasses with John Ruocco, Joe Lovano, Dave Holland.
Between 1982 -86 he played in some music-theatre pieces,and avant-garde projects like Blindman Sax Quartet,Fred Van Hove WIM orchestra,while studying at Brussels Conservatory and attending lots of jamsessions.

As a sideman ,Bart has worked and/or still works with Richard Rousselet ,Chris Joris, Ernst Vranckx, Olivier Collette, Bart Quartier, Marnix Busstra, Carlo Morena, etc…
He has been invited in 1996 to play some concerts in India (Bombay)with Amit Heri,Ramamani and the Karnataka College of Percussion. contemporary classical music to free improvisation :
