Victor DA COSTA

Guitar


Victor DA COSTA was born in 1971 in Rio de Janeiro.

He started to learn the guitar at the age of 11.
After studying at the 'Musiarte' Scholl in Rio de Janeiro, he decided to continu his studies in Europe. In 1993, he joins the jazz department of the Brussels Conservatory, and obtains a First Prize for guitar (1995) and harmony (1999).
In the same period, he already plays with some of the best musicians of the Belgian jazz scene.

In 2000, he goes back to Brazil for 2 years, where he plays a.o. with : Idriss Boudrioua, Dario Galante, Osmar Milito, Adriano Giffoni, LuizaoÉ

Back in Belgim since January 2002, Victor appears with his own trio and with numerous ensembles.

Among the bands and musicians he played with : DGIL, CACAU E GRUPO, Marito CORREA, Steve HOUBEN, Erik VERMEULEN, Michel HERR, Gino LATTUCA, Jan DE HAAS, Denise BLUE, etc...

He now presents his own trio, with Bart DE NOLF (b) and Jan DE HAAS (drs), which released the CD "Cores de là" (Mogno Music) (May 2004).

Victor DA COSTA teaches guitar and ensemble at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp.

Victor DA COSTA est né à Rio de Janeiro en 1971.

Il a commencé l'apprentissage de la guitare à l'âge de 11 ans.
Après des études musicales à la 'Musiarte' de Rio de Janeiro, il vient se perfectionner en Europe. En 1993, Victor entre au Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, section jazz, où il obtient un 1er Prix de guitare (1995) et d'harmonie (1999). Dès cette époque, il travaille avec quelques-uns des meilleurs musiciens de la scène belge.

En 2000, il rentre au Brésil pour y passer 2 ans. Il y joue entre autres avec : Idriss Boudrioua, Dario Galante, Osmar Milito, Adriano Giffoni, LuizaoÉ

De retour en Belgique depuis janvier 2002, Victor se produit avec son propre trio et au sein de nombreux autres ensembles.

Parmi les groupes et musiciens avec lesquels il a joué, on peut citer : DGIL, CACAU E GRUPO, Marito CORREA, Steve HOUBEN, Erik VERMEULEN, Michel HERR, Gino LATTUCA, Jan DE HAAS, Denise BLUE, Paolo LOVERI, Paolo RADONI etc...

Il présente son propre trio, qui a réalié le CD "Cores de là" (Mogno Music) (octobre 2004).

Victor DA COSTA donne cours de guitare et d'ensemble au Jazz Studio à Anvers.
