Alexandre CAVALIERE

Violin

This is a true and amazing story.
It all happened one evening, spring '98, the evening of the Django d'Or (the golden Django) award.
This is a ceremony which takes place each year to bestow the ultimate recognition on deserving performing jazz artists, named after Django REINHARDT
It was to take place in one of the conference saloons of the hotel.
French violinist Didier LOCKWOOD was to conduct, and perform, during the ceremony. Mr. LOCKWOOD was crossing the main hall of the hotel when he heard music. It was a group , "Jazzy Strings" rehearsing for another event.
His curiosity was in particular aroused hearing a violin. Mr. LOCKWOOD stepped in to discover that the violinist was a 12 years old prodigy.

And that was the beginning of fame for young Alexandre CAVALIERE.
Didier LOCKWOOD was so impressed that on the spur of the moment he invited him to join him on the podium.

Big surprise for the present public, master violinist LOCKWOOD in duo with an unknown boy.

Since then, Alexandre's name has been popping up on a regular basis.
During school holidays he goes to France to attend LOCKWOOD's master classes.

Alexandre CAVALIERE was born in Mons, Belgium, into a musical family. In fact, his father leads the "Jazzy Strings" and both parents teach music.
At age 5 Alexandre already practiced piano, drums and violin. It is the violin that has become his choice instrument.
Being used to hear Django REINHARDT and Stéphane GRAPPELLI, swing imposes itself in his style.
Alexandre CAVALIERE released hist first CD, titled "L'Album" (Hebra records 227-40061-2).
In 2002, in a more modern context, "Nomades (RDC Records).
