Benoît CAUDRON was born in Binche, Belgium, on June 13, 1974. First a self-taught musician, he went through studies in mathematics in Liège, then the IMEP (Namur), and landed at the Antwerp Jazz Studio.
Then he decides to focus on music. He attends workshops with pianists Pirly ZURSTRASSEN (Académie d'été, Libramont), Charles LOOS ("Jazz a vert", the summer clinic of "les Lundis d'Hortense").

After that, he plays duo concerts with flute player Dominique HARPIGNY.
They win the contest "scéne ouverte" at the Cultural center of Saint-Ghislain (B), and open for the band Parfum Latin at the Bouche-à-Oreilles (Etterbeek), and for Michel HERR (Ferme du Biéreau in Louvain-La- Neuve).

Always interested in composing, he obtained his First Prize for Piano in the class of Eric LEGNINI at the Brussels Royal Music Conservatory.

He also plays with the band Fonk it up of electric bass player Michel CASTILLANO.

Benoît CAUDRON recently introduced a new project, ALGAM, "Les douze tribus", a band with an original concept : to present 12 compositions, each of them written in a different time signature. With Fabrice ALLEMAN (sax), Pierre BERNARD (fl); Michel CASTILLANO (el. bass) and Xavier ROGÉ (drs), he proposes music that is at the crossroads of modern jazz and world music, mixing meticulous writing and improvisation, well-thought arrangements and spontaneity.

Il décide alors de se tourner définitivement vers la musique. Il suit plusieurs stages notamment avec Pirly ZURSTRASSEN (académie d’été de Libramont), et Charles LOOS (stage "Jazz au Vert" des Lundis d’Hortense), après quoi il joue en duo avec Dominique HARPIGNY (flûte traversière) et remporte le concours scène ouverte du centre culturel de Saint-Ghislain (saison 2000-2001, reconnu par les Tournées Art et Vie, section professionnelle suite à cela), et fait la première partie de Parfum Latin au Bouche-à-Oreilles (Etterbeek), de Michel HERR (Ferme du Biéreau, LLN).

Depuis toujours intéressé par la composition, il vient d'obtenir son 1er Prix dans la classe de piano d’Eric LEGNINI au Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles et fait partie du groupe «Fonk it up» de Michel CASTILLANO

Benoît CAUDRON présente depuis peu un nouveau projet, ALGAM, "Les douze tribus", un concept original : 12 morceaux, 12 mesures différentes ; Avec Fabrice ALLEMAN (sax), Pierre BERNARD (fl); Michel CASTILLANO (el. bass) and Xavier ROGÉ (drs), il propose une musique au confluent du jazz moderne et de la world music ; des compositions inédites où se mêlent habilement improvisation et écriture rigoureuse, spontanéité et arrangements mûris ; le tout formant une suite interprétée par une nouvelle formation prometteuse.
