Michel BISCEGLIA

piano, compositions

Born, 1970, in Zwartberg (Belgium) with Italian roots, Michel BISCEGLIA has worked extensively on the rock and pop scene with Jo LEMAIRE, SOFIE, Johan VERMINNEN, Stef BOS, CHELSEY, Philip ROBRECHT, John MILES, SUNNY SIDE UP, Kris DE BRUYNE and in jazz circles with Toots THIELEMANS, Philip CATHERINE, Rhonny VENTAT, Marcia MARIA, Eric GALE, Randy BRECKER, Andy MIDDLETON, ....

Michel BISCEGLIA is a self-taught musician, at an early age he got into contact with other aspiring musicians from his neighborhood.
Michel has never had much need for music education "2.5 years with a piano teacher and that was it...". Bisceglia briefly attended the conservatory of Maastricht and the Antwerp Jazz Studio only to leave after a few months. The fact that he is now himself a teacher at the Brussels Conservatory proves that he is a natural musical talent.

His first album, About Stories, (BMG) features his quintet composed of his trio plus US soloists Randy BRECKER (tp) and Bob MINTZER (sax, clar.).

He also played in quintet with Eric VLOEIMANS (tp) and Erwin VANN (sax).

He also appears on the CD "Le Temps Perdu" (PAO PAO 10860) of the Cattleya Trio with Harald INGENHAG (drs) and Volker HEINZE (bass).

But Michel BISCEGLIA mostly performs in trio.

October 2002 sees the release of his trio album "The Night and the Music", featuring a selection of standards by George GERSHWIN and Cole PORTER.
