Alain PIERRE creates in
1999 a new belgo-tunisian Acoustic Jazz Group called "ANFASS" with
tunisian guitarist Fawzi CHEKILI, Steve HOUBEN (Flutes, Saxes) and
tunisian Hichem BADRANI (Ney).
They play original compositions by
Alain PIERRE and Fawzi CHEKILI.
From 24 to 27 November 1999, the group
performed in Tunisia, at the "Centre des Musiques Arabes et
Méditerranéennes".
The project has the particularity of uniting side flute
and Nay (a tunisian instrument, flute, made of Bamboo) in a 100% acoustic
environment.
Concerts in Belgium in Spring and Summer 2000.

Since 1994, member with guitarists
Georges ENGLERT and Leszek HELINSKI of the "TRIO CADENZA", (exclusively
playing an original repertoire for 3 guitars in a contemporary music style. In
1996 they recorded a CD (available on the Web at http://www.netbeat.com/artists/trio_cadenza_1480.htm.)
" Trio Cadenza " played concerts in Belgium, Poland, France and
Tunisia.
Alain PIERRE
is member of the "
SLOONG " jazz quartet since 1991 and appeared in numerous international
festivals (Jazz à Liège, Festival of the Lundis d'Hortense, ça Jazz à Huy), and
in clubs ( Lion s'envoile, Liège ; Travers, Sounds, Brussels ; ...) He composes
many themes for the group which only plays original compositions.
Alain Pierre also plays acoustic
guitar in trio with singer Thierry BASOMBOLI and Double-Bass player Jean BORLEE which
plays standards from yesterday and today, from Gershwin, Mercer and Hammerstein
to Sting, Eric Clapton and Peter Gabriel, in acoustic sound.
He plays since 1998 in Duet (his
own compositions) and in Quintet with harmonicist Olivier POUMAY.
Member of Big Band " EVASION "
until 1997, with which he has recorded a CD Evasion Big Band , 1994.
In Mai 1998, he gets the
opportunity to play some concerts, in Belgium, with Barbara Hendricks and the
" Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège et de la Communauté française de
Belgique".
He also played, a.o., with Steve HOUBEN, Michel MASSOT, Nathalie LORIERS, Jean-Pierre CATOUL, Pierre BERNARD, Antoine CIRRI, Michel SEBA, Sal LA ROCCA, Ben SLUYS, Bart DEFOORT, Fabrice ALLEMAN, Marc FRANKINET, Laurent MERCIER, Alexandre PLUMACKER, Ireneusz GRABOWSKI, André KLENES, Charly D'INVERNO, Tonio REINA ...
Two of his compositions ("Past
Times", "No Sugar added"), was published in the collection " Jazz Themes of
Belgian Composers " published by PAB, the "Promotion Artistique Belge of Sabam"
since 1995, and was recorded by the "New Jazz Trio" (Switzerland) at the 18°
Jazz Hoeilaart International's Europ'Jazz Contest Belgium in 1996 on CD (B-Sharp
CDS 108) and by "Out to Lunch" (Danemark) at the 20° Jazz Hoeilaart
International's Europ'Jazz Contest Belgium in 1998.
He also composes numerous pieces for classical guitar solo, trio, combos and Jazz Big Bands as well as for various bands.
In 1996 and 1997, he wrote and recorded 3 original soundtracks for video-movies produced by " Film et Culture " and "RTBF Liège" (Belgian TV).
