Johannes SCHAEDLICH double bass Germany

Johannes Schaedlich (born in 1957; Bad Sachsa/Germany) is bassist (on both double bass and electric), composer and teacher; professionally working since around 15 years.

• 1964 first lessons on violin; picked up the electric bass in 1972.
• Since 1978 lessons and workshops a. o. with Adelhard Roidinger, Peter Bockius, Sigi Busch, Arild Andersen, Paul Imm.
• Classical studies at Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe and Mannheim, (starting in 1980), Jazz studies with S. Busch at Musikhochschule in Hamburg.
• Worked with (since 1982) Bobby Shew, Imre Köszegy, Pony Poindexter, Peter Kosch, Joe Haider, Leszek Zadlo, John Mayhan, Wolfgang Engstfeld, Francois Chassagnitte, Tomasz Szukalski, Glen Miller Big Band Of Netherlands, Artur Dudkiewicz, Joe Gallardo, Enrico Pieranunzi, Lee Konitz, Tony Lakatos, Lauren Newton, Jeanette McLeod, Maria Joao, Özay and many others.
• Recorded a. o. with Hal Galper, Janusz Stefanski, Bobby Shew, Freddy Santiago, Wolfgang Lauth Trio, "City West Quartet" (Switzerland), Lee Konitz (CD-Releases '94 und '95), Louis Stewart, Doug Raney etc.
• Appeared on festivals in San Sebastian (Spain), Luzern (Switzerland), Vienna, Heidelberg, Lever kusen, Mannheim, Vannes (France) and many others.
• Toured Spain, France, Italy, all "Benelux"-Countries, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Russia and Kirgistan with various bands.
• „Best Foreign Band"-Award at young musicians competition on „JAZZALDIA"-Festival 1987 San Sebastian (Spain); „Outstanding Musicians Award" at „International Jazz Workshop" Trier (Germany); first award at the „Jazz Soloist Competition Rheinland-Pfalz (Germany)" 1998
• Leading own „modern acoustic" jazz projects („Johannes Schaedlich Group"): f. i. a German-Polish Jazz Quartet; currently a trio with french pianist Jean-Yves Jung and german drummer Oliver Strauch.
• Temporarily teaching (both double bass and electric) at the Musikhochschule Mannheim/Heidelberg since 1995.
