Phil Abraham's personalization of scat has been deeply influenced by Chet Baker, Bobby McFerrin or Louis Armstrong.

Phil ABRAHAM is without any doubt an original player on his instrument.
Coming originally from old style jazz, he rapidly developed into a modern and adventurous player.
His quartet is both swinging and provocative. It features a combination of original compositions and well known standards, that the musicians totally recreate with a new, exciting, sometimes humorous approach.
Phil is also an incredible scat singer.
The quartet, composed of top Belgian players, shows a rare complicity and unity.
The Quartet CD Stapler (Igloo Records IGL 091) was chosen as the CD of the month by the Belgian jazz magazine Jazz In Time.
The CD Brussels Jazz Promenade" (Live Music LM 001/92), with various Belgian groups, includes one track with the Phil ABRAHAM Quartet."
This CD received from the Belgian jazz critics the Sax Award in 92.
A live CD of the quartet was released in '97 : The Phil ABRAHAM Quartet "EN PUBLIC" (Lyrae CD Ly 9703007).
