These young, talented musicians met each other at the conservatory of music in Maastricht (Holland). They began by playing the standard swing-
and latin songs from the Real Book. As they developed both as a band and as musicians, they began to experiment with the rules and "standards"
of jazz music. They allowed their horizons to expand into a world where you make your own musical rules. At this time they also started to write
their own compositions.
In 2002 the quintet met Claudius Valk, a German saxophonist who studied with Dave Liebman for some time and who is known for his contribution to the Belgian Blindman saxophone-quartet. His enthusiasm and experience helped CNQ further in their quest for musical freedom. He pushed everyone beyond their limited ideas as they studied Ornette Coleman's music (so called "free jazz").
During a live performance CNQ has the ability to pull the audience into participation with them. They love to experiment and they meet every challenge head on.
The Carlo Nardozza Quintet moves and grooves between many styles; from free-bop to soul-jazz and from latin to funk. Their repertoire contains own
compositions along with some originally interpreted old and modern jazz standards.

Suddenly the music they played came alive and began to move them in directions previously unknown to them. They had found what they were looking for:
freedom to allow the music to dictate their path. CNQ recently played in a workshop for Dave Liebman himself. They treasure this experience as he was full of praise and helpful criticism to guide them in their development.
