ECAROH QUINTET


Horace SILVER was born on September 2nd 1928. He will be 70 years old this year ('98).
Exceptional musician who remained young in his heart and spirit, Silver is a pianist composer, arranger, founder of the Jazz Messengers and leader of number of groups and often performed with brilliance in duo (trumpet / tenor.
His style, his music and the concept he gives it in traditional quintet are immediately recognizable.
And yet, Horace SILVER is relatively under estimated and with the exception of few well known compositions (The Preacher, Strollin', Nica's Dream, etc), there's a tendency to forget the importance of his in the preservation and perpetuation of jazz.

It is with the intention of repairing this situation that Richard ROUSSELET revisits Silver's vast répertoire and revive it with original arrangements through an extra ordinary positive spirit of this music where all its beauty and richness of the " Horace Silver " concept comes into evidence.

Musicien exceptionnel, toujours jeune de coeur et d'esprit, Silver est à la fois pianiste, compositeur, arrangeur, créateur des Jazz Messengers et leader de nombreux groupes oÿ a souvent brillé le duo trompette / ténor.
Son style, sa musique et le concept qu'il a donné au quintet traditionnel sont immédiatement reconnaissables.
Et pourtant, Horace SILVER est relativement sous-estimé, et, à l'exception de quelques compositions connues (The Preacher, Strollin', Nica's Dream, etc), on a tendance à oublier toute l'importance qu'il joue dans la préservation et la perpétuation du jazz.
C'est dans l'optique de combler cette lacune que Richard ROUSSELET revisite son vaste répertoire et fait revivre, dans les arrangements originaux et surtout dans l'esprit extraordinairement positif de cette musique, toute la beauté et la richesse du concept " Horace Silver ".
