For more than 10 years now, Steve HOUBEN shows his interest and curiosity towards world music. Now he teams up with Didier LABARRE, a specialist in traditionnal Cuban percussion.Both musicians have been teaching for years at the International Summer Academy of Wallonia and often considered starting a project together. This project is now born and takes the form of the band CUBAN BREEZE.
It combines various traditional and contemporary aspects of popular Cuban music with the harmonic sophistication and the rich improvisations borrowed from the jazz world.
Voici plus de 10 ans que Steve HOUBEN s'intéresse aux différentesmusiques du monde. Il s'associe cette fois à Didier LABARRE, spécialistedes percussions traditionnelles cubaines.Tous deux professeurs à l'Académie Internationale d'été de Walloniedepuis de nombreuses années, ils envisagent maintes fois un projet en collaboration. Ce projet prend la forme aujourd'hui du groupe CUBAN BREEZE.
Il confronte les aspects les plus traditionnels et actuels de la musiquepopulaire cubaine avec les éléments de sophistication harmonique etl'improvisation empruntés aux mondes du jazz.
