FINALE BJOICC 2004 – 26/9 The third edition of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra International Composition Contest promises a lot. This year, we received 26 inscriptions from Holland, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, USA, Canada, Australia, Finland, France, UK and Spain. Unfortunately, we didn’t receive any Belgian compositions. The preselection jury (some musicians of the BJO) choose five finalists:
Last year, the Portuguese composer Carlos Azevedo was also in the finale. He participated again and was once more chosen as a finalist! On Sunday 26/9, the BJO will play the compositions of the five finalists under the direction of the composers. An international jury (Michel Herr (B), Jan Wessels (NL), Pierre Bertrand (FR), Florian Ross (D) and Erik Moseholm (DK), with Paul Peeters as chairman of the jury) will choose the best composition and the winning composer will receive €1500 and a recording of his composition on CD. This finale takes place on the last day of the Jazz Hoeilaart festival; during the deliberation, you will hear a concert of the winning band of the Jazz Hoeilaart Contest.
